Our Confession

God is...

●    The One, True God, of which none come before or compare. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10, 1 Corinthians 8:6)

●    The uncreated Creator of the universe and all within it. (Genesis 1:1, Nehemiah 9:6, Isaiah 45:7, Ephesians 3:9)

●    Three persons with distinct and separate, yet universally united, roles known as: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17, 2 Corinthians 13:14)

●    Sovereign over all. (Psalm 115:3, Isaiah 46:10, Daniel 4:35)

●    Present everywhere, all the time, yet can fill a room with His presence and dwell within us. (Proverbs 15:3, Jeremiah 23:24)

●    All-powerful. Everything is subject to His authority, including the will of men and nations, yet He is personal and relational and does not tyrannize His Creation. (Proverbs 21:1, Matthew 19:26, Ephesians 3:20)

●    All-knowing. He knows everything about everything from before time began until it ceases to be, yet, though knowing the number of days we will live and the number of hairs on our heads, desires that we know Him and reveals His will to us. (Psalm 147:5, 1 John 3:20)

●    Unknowable, untamable, and unnamable, yet He pursues us, loves us, fellowships with us, and makes a place for us at His table. (Job 36:26, 1 John 4:8)

●    Inside and outside of time, eternal and unbound. (Isaiah 57:15)

●    The Holy One. (Leviticus 11:45, Psalm 99:3, Isaiah 6:3)

●    I AM. (Exodus 3:1-14)

Jesus is...

●    The Way, the Truth, and the Life, of whom there is no other way to the Father. (John 14:6)

●    The Second Person of God—One, yet distinct. (John 8:58, John 10:30)

●    Eternally existent, by whom all things are created. (John 1:1-3, Colossians 1:16, Hebrews 1:2)

●    Fully God, and fully man. (John 1:14, Philippians 2:7, Hebrews 1:3)

●    God made flesh. (Colossians 2:9)

●    Uncreated, yet conceived in Mary who was a virgin by the Holy Spirit. (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18-25)

●    The very Word of Godthe Communicator and Revealer of the Father. (John 1:1-3, John 14:9, Colossians 1:15, Hebrews 1:3)

●    The Messiah, Savior, Redeemer, Bridegroom. (John 3:29, John 4:25-26, Acts 4:12, Romans 8:1-2)

●    The Lamb of God—the perfect, atoning sacrifice who took the wrath of God upon Himself to pay the penalty for the sins of His people. (John 1:29)

●    The Fulfillment of the Law—His perfect obedience to the Law is imputed to believers. (Matthew 5:17-20)

●    Prophet, Priest, and King, presently ruling at the right hand of the LORD God on high and interceding on behalf of believers. (Matthew 13:57, Matthew 21:5, Hebrews 6:20)

●    The Lion of the tribe of Judah—coming again to claim His Bride, enact justice, and reign as King. (Revelation 5:5, Revelation 19:11-16)

The holy spirit is...

●    Equally God, having His own role and personality. (Isaiah 11:2,2 Corinthians 3:17)

●    Eternal. (Genesis 1:2, John 14:16)

●    The Comforter, the Counselor, the Helper, the Advocate, the Intercessor. (John 16:7)

●    The immersive, cleansing fire Christ promised and poured out on His people. (John 14:15-21, Acts 2:17)

●    By whom His people are sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 1:13-14, Ephesians 4:30)

●    Equipping believers with good gifts at salvation, and at times supernaturally enabling them beyond their gifting, to perform the good works God set apart for them from before the foundation of time. (Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 12:1)

●    Revealing truth through the illumination of God's written Word. (John 14:26)

●    Empowering believers to walk in purity, convicting men of sin. (John 16:8)

●    Producing good fruit in believers, showing evidence of their salvation and the presence of God in their lives. (Galatians 5:22-23)

the bible is...

●    The fully inerrant, fully inspired, God-breathed, written Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

●    Living, life-changing, and life-giving. (Hebrews 4:12)

●    The only authoritative, absolute, and trustworthy text. (John 17:17)

●    Profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:17)

●    Holistically relevant, written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through encouragement from the Scriptures. (Romans 15:4)

●    Essential. The disciple of Christ requires it to walk in purity, grow in faith, and be equipped for good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Man is...

●    Created by God in His image. (Genesis 1:27)

●    The pinnacle of God’s creation, superseding the entirety of the created order. (Psalm 8:5-8)

●    Possessing intrinsic and universal dignity and worth. (Psalm 8:5-8, Genesis 1:27)

●    Created as male and female, distinct, equal in value and worth, complementary in role. (Genesis 1:27, Ephesians 5:23, 25)

Sin...

●    Separates man from God irreparably and universally. (Isaiah 59:1-2, Romans 3:23)

●    Corrupts the image of God from conception. (Psalm 51:5)

●    Is a result of the Fall, transmitting the curse of Original Sin to all humanity, from generation to generation. (Romans 5:12)

●    Renders man fallen, totally depraved, unable to choose righteousness of his own accord. (Psalm 143:2, 2 Chronicles 6:36, Isaiah 53:6, Micah 7:2-4, Romans 3:9-12, Romans 11:32)

●    Is an affront against a holy and righteous God. (Psalm 51:4)

●    Leaves men like sheep without a shepherd, deserving of only eternal justice. (Matthew 9:36)

salvation is...

●    Of the Lord. (Psalm 3:8, Psalm 62:1, Revelation 7:10)

●    By grace alone through faith alone. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

●    God's gift to believers through Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:8, John 3:16)

●    Everlasting. It cannot be altered, undone, lost, or given away. (Romans 3:20-27, Romans 11:6)

●    Unearned and unmerited and is not owed to any. (Romans 3:20-27, Romans 11:6)

●    Received through repentance of sin and belief in the person and work of Jesus—the atoning sacrifice for the sins of His people, all who would believe. (Mark 1:15, Acts 3:18-19, Romans 10:9-10, 2 Corinthians 7:8-10, 1 John 1:9)

repentance is...

●    A universal command. (Mark 1:15, Acts 17:30)

●    Granted by God. (Acts 5:31, Acts 11:18, 2 Timothy 2:24-26)

●    Fueled by confession. (Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:9)

●    A turning from sin and self and a turning to Jesus in faith. (Acts 3:19, Luke 15:10)

●    A continuous act in the life of a Christian. (Luke 9:23, Luke 17:3-4, Revelation 3:19)

●    A response to the gracious, atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross. (Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19, Romans 2:4)

baptism is...

●    One of two ordinances given the church, communion being the other. (Acts 10:48, Ephesians 4:4-6)

●    An outward expression of the internal commitment we have made to follow Jesus. (1 Peter 3:21)

●    A public proclamation of one personally identifying themselves with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. (Colossians 2:12, Romans 6:4)

●    An act of obedience to Jesus' command to be baptized. (Acts 22:16)

●    An act of submission and humility, yielding in accountability to the direction of the leadership within the local church, as well as to the Body of Christ (the Church). (1 Peter 3:21)

●    A commitment before God and man to live in pursuit of God's perfect will—to fulfill our destiny, set apart for each of us before the beginning of time. (Galatians 3:27)

Communion is...

●    A grace given the Church, instituted by the Lord Jesus on the night that He was betrayed. (1 Corinthians 11:23)

●    Symbolic of the body of Christ, broken for us, the blood of Christ, shed for us. (Matthew 26:26-29)

●    A reminder, unifying believers with Christ and with one another. (1 Corinthians 11:24-25, 1 Corinthians 11:17-22)

●    A proclamation of the death of Christ until His return. (1 Corinthians 11:26)

●    An opportunity for self-examination and subsequent repentance, that we may partake in a worthy manner. (1 Corinthians 11:27-31)

The church is...

●    Both local and universal. (Matthew 16:18, Ephesians 4:4)

●    The Bride of Christ, the unified body of believers, those redeemed by the shed blood of Christ on the cross, walking in obedience as disciples of Jesus. (Ephesians 5:25-27)

●    Built by Jesus, the Christ, the Son of the living God. (Matthew 16:16-18)

●    Made up of many parts, yet one in Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:12)

●    Imperfect, but being perfected. (Hebrews 10:14)

●    The means through which Jesus continues to live on Earth, through the presence and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 12:27)

●    Led by elders and deacons in fulfilling the Great Commission. (1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 1:3-9, Matthew 28:18-20)
